Chosen Material |
Through my field visits, the cement sack was the most prevalent material. Its vast abundance made me question the onset of the product, its life cycle, and its impact on our environment. Thorough research into the impact of it made me finalise on the material.
Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer created with the intentions of replacing the traditional jute bag in packaging and other transportation of goods, The material brings many advantages namely: Pest, Tear, Water Resistant, Durability, Re-usability, Recyclable, etc. It is also found being used as Packaging, Labelling, Sanitary Pads, Textiles, etc. |

Migrant Construction Labour Force.
The targeted audience is the section of the economy that is directly involved in the construction industry, and is one of the most exploited communities in India. The product is designed for those who work hard through long, unregulated working hours, and are not guaranteed a carefree, comfortable and restful sleep at night. It is designed for the migrant labor force of India, which constitutes about 90% of the workers in the Construction Industry. |
Final Product |
The final product was designed entirely using polypropylene bags, strips and shreds.
